CAN I REFUSE To Give My S/S No.?

INFORMATION Needed For A Quote

Is My Social Security Number Needed For Quote?

YES, you will be asked for your social security number as it is the easiest way for insurance companies to obtain your credit report.
What happens if I refuse to give my ss#? You may be opening a can of worms as insurance companies rates are based on risk categories. Without a credit report they have no choice but to assign you as a HIGHER risk at a HIGHER PREMIUM.

Other Information Needed:

-- Your drivers license number to check your driving record the last five years. the cleaner your record is the lower the risk you are and this should reduce your premium.
-- Proof of existing insurance will be needed. All insurance companies have at least two possible companies to put you with.
For example let's say you are considering State Farm.
State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company is for LOW RISK drivers and has the LOWEST rates.
State Farm Indemnity Company is for HIGH RISK drivers and has the HIGHEST rates.

-- General information like your age, occupation, how many miles you drive, etc.

In addition to the type of vehicle they want to know if you own it outright or is it financed. If financed you will be required to carry collision and comprehensive at least until the vehicle is paid off.

What type of miles do you drive? How much do you drive for business or is it pleasure driving only. If your job requires you to drive to customers like a salesman, you will be rated as a higher risk.

Does your car have anti-lock brakes or anti-theft devices? These may qualify you for discounts and a lower premium.
